Individualised Treatment

We offer a completely individualised assessment and treatment based on your goals and needs.
One of the benefits of seeing a psychologist is that you are able to share information knowing that your information will not be shared with anyone. We take your confidentiality very seriously and follow best practice guidelines in handling your information.

We Offer Telehealth

Telehealth appointments provide opportunities for those that find it difficult to attend sessions in person. This can include for people living in rural or remote areas, as well as those who live locally.

All you need is a device that has both audio and video capabilities and a reliable internet connection. Sessions take place via video conferencing and will be like seeing a psychologist in person. Our telehealth service is available to anyone living in Australia, and Medicare rebates apply for those people referred under a Mental Health Care Plan by their GP.

For telehealth sessions, please consider your confidentiality when choosing a place to be for the session. A quiet, private space where you are assured of no interruptions would be appropriate.

FAQ

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, if you are eligible and are referred by your GP under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you can claim Medicare rebates for sessions.

Fees for a standard session range from $180-$220 per 50-min session depending on the clinician you see. Payments are made on the day of consultation by cash, EFTPOS or Credit Card. Concessional fees may be available via consultation with your treating Psychologist.

Details of each clinician’s fee can be obtained by contacting our friendly receptionists at Karrinyup Physiotherapy.

Private health

You may be eligible for a rebate from your private health insurer. Rebate rates vary between insurance funds and policies. To determine your rebate, contact your insurer and advise of which Psychologist you are engaging in services and their endorsement (ie Clinical or Counselling Psychology).

 Medicare

If you have a referral from your GP and they have provided you with a Mental Health Care Plan, you will have a Medicare rebate of $131.65 with Annaliese and $89.65 with Samantha.

 NDIS

Please discuss with your Psychologist.

 Workers Compensation/Motor Vehicle/Accident Insurance

Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Insurance claims will be billed as per Workcover WA rates for Clinical and Counselling Psychologists. These bills will be sent directly to insurers. If you are planning to access services under this funding model, please let reception know at the time of booking to allow your treating Psychologist to obtain the necessary approvals for funding.

Appointments are 50 mins long unless otherwise negotiated with your Psychologist.

A Psychologist has undertaken a 4-year undergraduate degree in Psychology in addition to 2 years of supervised practice. Annaliese and Samantha have undertaken further study and hold postgraduate Masters Degrees in Psychology (6 years of full time study and 2 years of supervised practice). Psychologists focus on psychotherapy (talk therapy) as their treatment approach and liaise with psychiatrists and GP’s regarding medication as required.

A Psychiatrist has undertaken a medical degree and once qualified as a medical doctor, has gone on to complete postgraduate studies and supervised practice in Psychiatry. As a medical doctor, they have prescribing rights and often employ medical treatment as part of their broader treatment plan.
